世界衛生組織(WHO)助理總幹事福田敬二今天率領考察組抵達韓國，將從明天到十三日，一連五天，與韓國政府共同考察中東呼吸症候群(MERS)疫情蔓延狀況。考察團成員中包括世界衛生組織總部和西太平洋總部傳染、病毒、感染預防及控制專家和曾經在中東應對MERS疫情的專家。考察團將從明天起視察MERS患者接受治療的醫院、隔離設施，並調查感染途徑，蒐集和分析相關資訊。考察團還將對韓國政府MERS應對措施進行評估併為有關部門和機構提供諮詢。
韓國保健福祉部表示，根據「國際衛生條例」，世界衛生組織可針對疫情跨國擴散等需要國際社會共同應對的事宜，與當事國合作進進行實地考察。
